Plantain

Also known as Plantago Major. It is a native to Europe but spread so rapidly that the natives believed it grew everywhere the white man walked. Natives used it for curing chronic wounds and sores. The juice or seeds made into tea relieves intestinal pain and excessive menstrual flow. The juice of the leaves will counter act the bite of a rattlesnake and other poisonous insects. Plantain is sometimes used as a stop smoking aid, and freshen your breath by chewing the leaves.

Medicinal Uses
The green seeds and stem boiled in milk will help diarrhea and bowl complaints. The juice or seeds make into tea relieves intestinal pain and excessive menstrual flow. Helps to prevent heart disease by reducing cholesterol. The fiver controls appetite and reduces absorption of fat and bile. It contains factor "I" which helps stop bleeding, and seeds act as a gentle laxative.

Edible Uses
Plantain is rich in minerals and vitamins like betacarotene and calcium. The very young leaves can be eaten in salads.
